Northville Public Schools
Shannon Torres is the District Media Specialist at Northville Public Schools, located about 30 miles west of Detroit, Michigan. This is her sixteenth year in education; she began as a high school English teacher, and from that found her passion in promoting literacy and technology to engage students in their learning. Shannon believes that there is nothing more powerful than seeing young people come alive and grow as active participants in the world around them. Upon leaving the classroom, Shannon found home in “Libraryland” and has been enjoying the last 8 years as a district Media Specialist. She is a proud member of MAME (Michigan Association of Media in Education), ALA, and AASL. She is a certified teacher and has a B.A. in English from Madonna University and a M.A. in Library and Information Science from Wayne State University. When she not at work or reading teen lit, you can find Shannon spending time with her three favorite guys, her husband Mike and sons Antonio and Max.
