Katie Salmela

Katie is a K-5 Digital Learning Specialist and Elementary Library Media Coordinator for the One91: Burnsville-Eagan-Savage school district in Minnesota.  As a media coordinator,  Katie serves as a mentor and guide to media staff and works to ensure library media centers foster reading, learning, and exploration while supporting district curriculum and initiatives. As a digital learning specialist, Katie provides technology instruction, develops digital learning curriculum that includes library media skills, and helps lead the digital learning team by guiding those without library backgrounds. She holds a Master’s in Library Science from Clarion University, a K-12 Library Media endorsement, and a Bachelor’s degree in English and Education from Augustana University.

She is a librarian, Digital Learning Specialist, and lifelong learner committed to connecting learning, technology, reading, information literacy, and libraries in way that is engaging and empowering for students, families, and educators.  Katie is honored to be a Lilead Fellow and excited about the impact this experience will have for the One91 Digital Learning and elementary library programs.

In her free time, Katie enjoys reading, being outdoors, and spending time with her husband and three children.
