Carter Cook

Carter Cook has been the Director of Library Media Services for the Fort Worth Independent School District since 2006. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from The University of North Texas and taught both elementary school and middle school language arts. He earned a Master of Library Science from Texas Woman’s University, and later, a Graduate Academic Certificate in the Advanced Management of Libraries and Information Agencies from UNT. Prior to becoming director, Carter served as a campus librarian in Fort Worth ISD for ten years- five years in secondary and the other five in elementary. Carter is a former chairperson of the Local Arrangements Committee for the 2013 Texas Library Association annual conference and serves on the planning committees for reading initiatives through the local United Way and public library system. Carter is married to a school librarian, Rachel, and has one daughter who will be attending his alma mater, UNT, in the fall.
