15/16 Fellow Kate Moore Publishes Latest SLJ Take the Lead Installment

In the latest Take the Lead series installment in School Library Journal, 15/16 Lilead
Fellow Kate Moore speaks about strategic positive exposure in San Ramon Valley Unified School District, where she serves as curriculum coordinator. She and the district librarians have been working to shine a light on library problems and practices, issues and ideas, and structures and solutions. They have worked hard to shift the norm from “perception = reality” to “reality = perception.” Her librarians are getting out, speaking up, and making a difference:

These days, they are everywhere, spreading the power of literacy as a tool for equity and social justice.

Moore has a passion for promoting social justice through literacy. Her work has been published in several journals and anthologies including Finding Poetic Justice: How Teacher Inquiry Impacts Elementary Math Instruction, CSUEB Press, 2012; Postcards from the Schoolhouse, NCPEA Publications, 2013; The Exchange, International Reading Association, 2013; Found Poetry Review, 2014; and Digital Paper, 2013, 2015.
